Frequent Advertiser Bonus (FAB) Rewards Program

Since we don’t use advertising contracts, we’ve come up with a way to reward those who run ads or flyer inserts with us month after month. It is a bit like the frequent flyer programs the airlines offer. We call it our Frequent Advertiser Bonus (FAB) Program. Thanks to our FAB rewards program, as of January 2025, OCN advertisers had saved over $124,000 on advertising!

Each time you pay promptly* for ad space or inserts, we credit up to 10% of your payment** to your FAB account balance. The percentage that applies is based on your current FAB account balance. The greater your FAB account balance, the greater the percentage that applies. At any point, you can use all or part of your FAB account balance to reduce the cost of an ad or insert you want to run. Just let us know when you reserve the ad space how much from your FAB account you want to use toward the cost of the ad.

All new advertisers start with FAB account balances of zero. Here is how the subsequent reward is calculated:

FAB Account BalanceReward Earned
$0 – $9.992%
$10 – $34.995%
$35 or more10%

An example: Suppose you are a new advertiser and you run a $50 ad. When you pay* for that ad, $1 (2% of $50) is credited to your FAB account. You can use that to reduce the cost of running another $50 ad to $49. That would return your FAB account balance to zero. Alternatively, you can leave your $1 reward in your FAB account. Whenever your FAB balance is between $10 and $34.99 then 5% of your subsequent payments will be added to your FAB account. When your FAB account balance is $35 or more, you will be credited 10% on your payments**. All advertisers earn 2% rewards on the first $500 of timely payments and 5% or more after that.

To maximize your FAB rewards: Pay promptly and pay by check or money order. Since FAB rewards are not credited for late payments, it pays to send in your payment right away when you receive our invoice. FAB rewards are reduced by subtracting any fees associated with the payment including PayPal fees for credit or debit card payments. Paying by check or money order avoids those fees and means more of your payment earns FAB rewards.

All our advertisers are automatically enrolled in the program. You don’t have to do anything except advertise in OCN. The more you advertise, the more you save.

FAB account balances never expire, are not transferable or refundable, and have no cash value. Unpaid ad costs, late fees, and other amounts due may be deducted from the advertiser’s FAB account balance.

OCN reserves the right to modify or cancel the program without notice at any time.

Please note

*FAB rewards are not credited for late payments; that is, payments received after the publication date of the next issue after the issue that carried your ad or flyer insert. Rewards are also not credited for payments under our double-up and catch-up program for those with significant outstanding balances.

**FAB rewards are reduced by subtracting any fees associated with the payment including PayPal fees. PayPal fees typically amount to 3.5% of the amount of the payment. Paying by check, money order, or bank transfer avoids those fees and maximizes the FAB rewards you earn.

Accessibility Adjustments

Accessibility Commitment for Our Community News, Inc.

At Our Community News, Inc., we are committed to making our digital presence as accessible and inclusive as reasonably possible for all users, including individuals with disabilities. Our goal is to improve the usability of wp.ocn.me and to support a more accessible experience for everyone, regardless of their abilities or the technologies they use.

Our Approach to Accessibility

We aim to align with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), which define internationally recognized standards for digital accessibility. While full compliance cannot always be guaranteed, we strive to implement improvements where feasible and regularly review accessibility-related aspects of our website. Accessibility is an ongoing process, and we are committed to improving the experience over time as technologies, standards, and user needs evolve.

Accessibility Features

To support accessibility, wp.ocn.me may utilize tools such as the OneTap accessibility toolbar. This interface provides users with a range of helpful features, including:
  • Adjustable text size and contrast settings
  • Dark mode for those who prefer that presentation
  • Highlighting of links and text for better visibility
  • Quick launch via keyboard shortcut: Alt + . (Windows) or ⌘ + . (Mac)
Please note the following:
  • The availability and effectiveness of these features depend on the website's configuration and ongoing maintenance.
  • While we strive to ensure accessibility, we cannot guarantee that every part of wp.ocn.me will be fully accessible at all times. Some content may be provided by third parties or affected by technical constraints beyond our immediate control.

Accessibility Tools

We implemented an accessibility icon on the upper right of the screen. It is a figure with arms and legs outstretched in a dark gray circle. Clicking on the accessibility icon will open a toolbar with many options to adjust the text and the screen. We also implemented a dark mode tool, which appears to the left of the accessibility icon as a smaller circle that initially is half-gray and half yellow indicating the screen will adjust to the system’s dark mode setting. Clicking on the dark mode tool will switch it to a sun icon meaning light mode. Clicking again will switch it to a moon icon meaning dark mode. Clicking again brings it back to half-and-half. If the accessibility tools are obstructing something you want to view, you can open the accessibility toolbar and select "Hide toolbar." Leave the setting at the default of “Only for this session” and click Hide Toolbar. That will reveal a small dark circle containing a minus sign. If you click on the minus sign, the dark mode tool will be removed and the minus will change to a plus. Click on the plus sign to bring back the accessibility icon and the dark mode tool.
